How to Sign Up for Job Alerts (Including Best Practices)

Create a job alert based on search filters:

Customize your search in our Job Board - we'll notify you when employers post jobs that match the opportunities you're looking for!

  1. Navigate to SolidProfessor Careers.
     
  2. Click on the "Jobs" tab.
  1. In the "Keywords" field, type a keyword for the job you're interested in.
     
  2. In the "Location" field, type and select your city name.

BEST PRACTICES

Use broad keywords for your search (e.g., designer, drafter, engineer). 
Employers may use different terms or titles to describe the roles you are interested in, so more general terms help capture all relevant opportunities. Broad keywords reveal job descriptions that match your skills, even if the title isn’t an exact match. This strategy give you more options to explore and improves your chances of finding the right fit!

For example, instead of "CAD drafter", use "drafter".

  1. Click "Find Jobs" to display all job postings matching your keywords in that city.
  1. Next, select filters from the left menu to refine your results (e.g., salary range, full time vs. part time, industry):

BEST PRACTICES

Don't limit yourself to only the opportunities in your city! 
Expand your search area by:

  • Increasing the radius of your search under "Search Within".
  • Selecting another city under "Refine by City".
  1. Once you've selected all of your filters, enter your email address in the "Your Email" field.
     
  2. Click "Create Alert". You will now receive email alerts whenever a job matching the selected criteria has been posted.

BEST PRACTICES

Want to create alerts for several similar opportunities? 

Instead of starting over fresh, you may easily remove tags by deleting them from under "Current Search". Now you can select different filters from the left menu to create a new alert!

Create a job alert based on a specific job listing:

When you've found a job post that closely matches your interests, we'll email you about new opportunities just like it.
 

  1. Navigate to the job posting that you're interested in.
     
  2. Scroll down and enter your email address in the "Email Me Jobs Like This" field.
     
  3. Click "Create Alert". You will now receive email alerts whenever jobs similar to that opportunity are posted.
