What you will need before starting:
- Schoology admin access to the App Center.
- A decision on your integration type: Anonymous (students launch directly, no login required) or Known (students are matched by name and email). If you are unsure, please reach out to support@solidprofessor.com, before proceeding.
- Log into Schoology as a System Administrator.
- Navigate to the App Center.
- Click My Developer Apps.
- Click Add App.
5. Fill out the Add Schoology App form:

7. Set the Privacy setting:
- Do not send any user information - for schools using the Anonymous LMS strategy.
- Send Name and Email/Username of the user who launches the tool - for schools using a known (unmasked) LMS strategy.
The Privacy setting determines whether Schoology will send student PII to SolidProfessor. If set incorrectly, user matching will fail. Always confirm the desired privacy strategy with your Customer Success Manager before saving.Important:Once set, switching the privacy setting (e.g., from anonymous to known or vice versa) requires the school to contact Schoology directly. SolidProfessor cannot change how Schoology sends PII.
8. Check "Assignment and Grade Services" and "Names and Roles Services"
9. Check "Require System Administrators to configure settings for this App".
10. Check"This application meets the Schoology Terms of Use"and click Submit.
- After submitting, you'll be taken to the App Profile page.
- Click the options dropdown and select API Info.
- Copy and notate the Client ID value. You will hand this off to the instructor with two other values.
- Close the API Information dialog.
- Click Install LTI 1.3 App.
- Click I agree.
- Click Continue.
- Click Add to Organization. This will navigate you to the Organization Apps page.
- From the Organization Apps page (where you landed after Step 3), click Configure on the SolidProfessor app.
- Copy the Deployment ID value. You will hand off this value (and two others) to the Instructor.
- In the Custom Parameters text box, enter the following values and click Save settings:
user_id=$User.id
lms_school_id=$com.schoology.Context.Building.id
For the custom parameters to take effect, the app must be re-installed. See Step 5.
This step is required. Skipping it means the custom parameters from Step 4 will not take effect, and LTI launches will fail.
- Navigate to App Center My Developer Apps.
- Click Install LTI 1.3 App on the SolidProfessor app.
- Click I agree.
- Click Continue.
- Click Add to Organization.
- From the Organization Apps page, click Install/Remove.
- Check the All Courses option and submit.
Checking "All Courses" means instructors do not need to install the tool separately for each of their courses.
Step 6: Get the Schoology School ID(s)
Schools in Schoology correspond to schools in SolidProfessor. Even if the Schoology account is dedicated to a single school, the school mapping process is still required.
- Navigate to Tools > School Management.
- Click on Schools in the left navigation bar.
- Click on a school you want to map to SolidProfessor.
- The Schoology School ID will be displayed in the URL. Copy this ID and notate it to hand off to the Instructor.
Once you have collected all three values, your part of the setup is complete. You do not need to enter anything into SolidProfessor. That step is handled by an Instructor or District Admin with the appropriate access level in SolidProfessor.
Pass the following three values to your Instructor or District Admin (If you have not already entered them into the SolidProfessor Platform):
- Client ID
- Deployment ID
- School ID (or IDs if multiple schools)
Let your Instructor or District Admin know they will need to log in to SolidProfessor and enter these values in Instructor Tools to complete the integration. Ask them to confirm with you once it has been entered. They can then follow the steps here to complete the integration process:LTI 1.3: Schoology Setup for Instructors
