What is a user role?
A user role defines a type of user in the SolidProfessor platform, with varying functionalities and permissions. Your company administrator will likely determine your designated role when establishing your membership. This article will help in understanding the different types of user roles seen in SolidProfessor.
A Client Admin is generally a person at a company who oversees SolidProfessor usage at a high level across the entire account. Client Admins have user management abilities but limited access to content and content management. Client Admins do not occupy a seat on a team membership.
Client Admins can do the following:
- Access the Admin Tools
- Create new users
- Deactivate or remove existing users (with the exception of other Client Admins)
- Access the Reporting tab and export Learner and Manager statistics
- Update the roles of Learners or Managers
- Create, Edit, and Delete Groups
- Leave or Join existing Groups
- Assign new or existing users to Groups
- Access Practice Exercise Answer Keys
- Download the SOLIDWORKS Add-In
- Create a Portfolio
Client Admins CANNOT:
- Edit details (name, phone number, email address) or change account permissions of other Client Admins
- View library content beyond the first five lessons (including in the Group creation flow)
A Manager has similar people management abilities to a Client Admin, with broader content access and content management
Managers can do the following:
- Access the Admin Tools
- Create new users
- Deactivate or remove existing users (with the exception of Client Admins)
- Access the Reporting tab and export Learner and Manager statistics
- Update the roles of Learners
- Edit Manager details (name, phone number, email address)
- Create, Edit, Delete, and Archive Groups
- Assign new or existing Learners to Groups
- Leave or Join existing Groups
- Access Practice Exercise Answer Keys
- View all published library content and earn technical certificates
- Download the SOLIDWORKS Add-In
- Create a Portfolio
Managers CANNOT:
- Change the permissions of Client Admins or other Managers
